The Long & The Short

Holy cow! I thought I had written something but apparently I didn't! So here is the long and the short. Since I last blogged in February.... I moved to Canada. And in 6 short days will be married! I will write of the whole planning of a wedding which has been rather insane and wild!

I'm marrying a totally awesome and wonderful man named Glen Allardyce! He is utterly great, highly lovable, and is absolutely the best thing that has ever happened to me!

15 Days

It's fifteen days until I move to Canada! Wow! I'm starting the drive up on the 28th. I may have to stop and spend the night in a hotel about halfway up, but , if I do, I do. Though if I get a good night's sleep on the 27th, I shouldn't have a problem.

It'll just really depend on how I feel at the time. Still... Canada! in 15 short days. I can hardly wait.

A Sea Of Boxes

My little townhouse is now a sea of boxes as I pack for my move to Canada! The official move date! March 1st. It's a Sunday and should be a good move time for me because I won't be dealing with any of the rush hour traffic! My path will take me past Pittsburgh.

One of the reasons I love Canada is that if something ever were to happen to my mother, I would have very little trouble bringing Corkie and Bootsie up from The States. Canada only requires a good shot record and both of them have it as my mom takes excellent care of them. Corkie is more her and mine's dog but I live in an apartment and Mom lives out in the country so he has the opportunity to run (though we have had to discourage his pack tendency since it got him in a heap of trouble when he and his friends chose to kill a neighbors goat!

Glen loves the breed that Corkie is and has had that breed before (his lived 16 year and the avg for the breed combination is 10). Pita won't love the drive up so I'm rather dreading it. Poor baby. But we'll figure out something to manage. I'll burn a CD of 13 hours worth of music to listen to on the way up.

Anyway all is progressing as it should be. It's amazing how fast time is flying!

ACK!!!! The Really Long Update

Ok.. my trip to Canada that I was supposed to be taking in November of 2008 was postponed. I actually went to Canada on January 23rd and I had a really awesome time! I was picked up from the airport by Glen and I stayed at his place. We went to a Robert Burns Supper, and had a general all around great, fantastic, wonderful time.

Glen is totally wonderful!

I am moving to Canada at the end of this month to the first of next month. I've started packing my stuff. I really love Canada! OMG! I can't wait to see the country-side in the Spring and Summer. I'm really pushing myself hard to get up there.

So this is really something that is very exciting for me. It's logistically challenging and I admit I do have my twinges of pure unadulterated fear. But it's fear that is born mostly of the fact that I don't like taking risks. However, how does a person grow if they are not willing to take risks and jump out of their comfort zone you know? They don't. If I stayed secluded and safe, never taking risks, I would not be the woman I am today.

I stood before a crowd of 20 and read a toast before them. Something that I would never have done if I had never been part of a leads group and pushed myself to get accustomed to speaking in front of a crowd of my business peers.

So with this, I will close and I'll try not to let it go so long before my next update.

Not Posted In Forever

I have not posted in a really long time so I am going to run through the various updates.

  • Canada! --- I am going to Canada over the American Thanksgiving Holiday. Yes, you heard it. Canada! Woot! I will be in Toronto and I just simply can't wait. I'm aching to meet all of my online friends that I have for years and then a more recent online friend named Glen. I can't wait! 32 days until I can leave for it.

  • Rennaissance Festival -- I went to that last weekend and I had a blast. I bought a broom made out of cinnamon, a pendulum, 2 CD's from this guy called Cast In Bronze, Soap, Scented Oil, and a metalic rose that has been scented with rose oil so it smells like a rose.

  • Handfasting Ceremony - There was a really great Handfasting Ceremony that night that I attended. It was beautifully done. It was cold. What does a Handfasting involve? Several elements but it's a bit long to discribe. But the ultimate jist of it is the two individuals hold hands and their hands are bound with a ribbon for year statement affirmed.. for example "Will you honor her?" Will you Honor Him? With the dual yes, a ribbon is added. But what makes it so awesome is this: After the High Preist or acting official is done, the guests each get a ribbon and they in turn offer their blessings to the union and tie a ribbon at the end. Then the ribbon is slipped off the hands and it's this little wreath which is a keepsake from the event. Ok.. I gave more details and such.

  • The Book! The book is going well. It keeps me busy. I am having a great time with it. I love writing Jared. I really am not wild about giving too many details here. But it's all great.

  • Politics: I dislike both candidates that we have. Neither is good. I''m not even going to vote. Neither is good. The same with the local and state. It's the same old, same old. I'd like for once to vote for a politician because they are good and not the lesser of the 2 evils. Ok I have voted like that but it hasn't been since Bill ran for office the 2nd time.
I think that is it for now. I might add another post later.

PPD

What is PPD? It stands for Pagan Pride Day and Charlotte, NC had their annual one this year. It was totally awesome. It was the greatest. I had a good time at it. I bought some incense, soap, and pretty much had a great time.

I met with old friends, talked to new ones, and had it driven home to me why I have chosen the path that I have chosen. Part of it is that I truly believe in what I do but I could have stayed a closet witch if I wanted to.

I ran into this guy. And his aura was so pretty that I couldn't help but blurting it out. And his reaction? He smiled and said thank you very much for the compliment. He beamed at me, pleased. The end. For his world something like that was perfectly normal.

And there is acceptance for you no matter what. There is no wrong way. It's all right because we as humanity are many varied and those variances are to be celebrated and cherished. Not taken apart and found sinful and wrong.

I am at peace with this lifestyle than I ever was when I tried things the way I was raised to be. And no matter how hard I tried, I never felt like I was good enough and that was often rammed home by whatever preacher that I was in contact with. It was so nice to be there. The energy was festive and good. And though it was supposed to rain, the rain stopped in time for PPD. It was a great, great day.

My Cat The Dog.

My cat is a dog. Why? Because of some of her cute tendencies. We all grow up with the concept that if you throw a stick or a ball, the retrieves it and brings it back. I've never had a dog that would do it. Oh I've had dogs understand the get the item concept. But they have always had issues in bringing it back so they can experience the fun of getting it again.

My cat, however, loves to play fetch. It is one of her favorite things. She brings me sometimes whatever toy she wants me to toss. It's incredibly cute and insane at the same time. The funny thing is she has never been exposed to dogs.
